2008 Sapphire Dancesport Championships 

Rules

1. All persons attending the Sapphire Dancesport Championship whether as spectators, competitors, guests, or officials do so at their own risk.

2. No responsibility for loss or theft of personal belongings can be accepted by the organizers, Sapphire Dancesport Championship, or Double Tree Hotel, nor can they be liable for any injuries sustained while attending the Sapphire Dancesport Championship.

3. Costumes will be allowed in all levels.

4. No video taping or filming is permitted. A professional video production company will be present to video participants dancing. Tapes will be made available to purchase.

5. Everyone who attends the Sapphire DanceSport Championship, by his/her presence, irrevocably grants their consent to the use of their name, acts, poses, appearances, and utterances as part of and connection with any collateral material, videos or photographs for exhibition, transmission, distribution, solicitation, and sale in all fields of media without limitations. Any participant having any objections to being taped or photographed must notify the organizer in writing by June 1st.

6. Smoking will not be permitted in the ballroom or dressing rooms.

7. The Organizer reserves the right to cancel all categories that do not materialize.

8. Scholarships must have a minimum of three entries per division. If less than three entries, prize money will be half of listed amounts.

9. Acts of God, war, strikes, disasters, civil unrest, labor disputes, transportation availability, or any other emergency making it inadvisable or impossible to provide the facility services associated with the production of the Sapphire Dancesport Championship, does not constitute a basis for a refund.

10. Teachers and students must be on package and have a minimum of 50 entries and to be eligible for Top Teacher awards.

11. No checks or credit cards will be accepted at the competition, Cash Only.

12. Material used in American style closed competitions should be based on the current NDCA, Fred Astaire, Arthur Murray or equivalent American step list and the ISTD syllabus for International style. No continuity in Bronze American entries. Open levels are not material restricted. Multi-dance entries may be closed or open.

13. Solos are limited to three minutes. Music must be on individual cassettes or CDs. Solo judging is on impression. Students receive score and comments.

14. Adults may enter their true age division and one division younger. Preteen, Juniors, and Youths may enter their true age category and one division older.

15. Dancers are required to be in the "on Deck" area two heats prior to their scheduled heat. Any competitor not on the floor when the master of ceremonies calls the heat is subject to disqualification for the heat. Please be advised that changes may be made from the original program and all dancers should be in the ballroom at least 30 minutes prior to the time they are scheduled to dance.

16. All competing professionals and amateurs must be registered with the NDCA or equivalent association/organization as required by the NDCA. This is not required for pro/am students. Registration forms will be available at the competition or may be requested for advanced registration.

17. The deadline for a refund is 21 days prior to the event's commencement.

18. If the organizers are notified of a cancellation after the deadline, refunds will be considered only in case of emergency and must be accompanied by a doctor's certificate. Refunds less a cancellation fee will be made 30 days after event.

19. No exchanges or refunds will be made on admission tickets. (ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL.) Tickets will be available at "Will Call" at the registration at the event. Tickets are sold on a first come, first serve basis with preferred seating going to package holders first, the a la carte ticket purchases. Orders will not be taken without payment. Tickets are required for admission to the ballroom for all spectators and participants and must be retained to show upon each reentry into the ballroom. Lost tickets must be repurchased.
